Original photograph taken from Plate 8 of Wager (1934). Panorama of the east side of Kangerdlugssuaq showing the Skeaergaards Halvøen Intrusion consisting of banded gabbros around the Peak at 1277 m. Wager compared this intrusion to that of the Cuillin Hills in Skye. The Skaergaard Intrusion is a relatively small, oval shaped body with an area of about 50 km2 made up of a unique type of iron-rich gabbro in the shape of an inclined inverted cone and is deeply dissected (Wager 1937, Wager and Deer 1939, Wager and Brown 1968). Rhythmic layering is best seen on the steep faces of Peak 1277 m of Gabbrofjaeld (see Figure 6).
