Large tuff ring deposit of the 29,000 years old Meerfelder Maar eruption near to Deudesfeld/Eifel, which is situated about 15 km south of the famous Quaternary Dreiser Weiher Maar volcano. Beside pieces of the crust, the ash-tuffs contain fragments of the upper mantle (mostly depleted spinel lherzolite and harzburgite xenoliths) that may contain hydrous minerals (amphibole and/or phlogopite) produced by mantle metasomatism.
