Aerial view of the Pulvermaar near Gillenfeld, Eifel, Germany. This nearly perfectly circlar diatreme with a diameter of 800-900 m is considered a classic example of a maar. The age of the maar is approx. 20 000 years, the lake is about 71 m deep.
